I talked to DVW friday morning before he had any coffee and he almost gave sound advice:
Know how to do things - like implementing an avl tree or a pqueue.
As for chapter 7 I would know how to write code for heapsort.
Also don't forget map and set and such - it is probably a good idea to know how to implement them using lists, vectors and trees. It is probably also a good idea to know what the advantage is for each implementation.
