: it's pretty unfortunate that we have to encounter this type of faculty even in being in the 6th ranked CS dep. in the nation....

From my standpoint, I believe this class is going far beyond its requirements. I've heard about the things we're going through, but they happend in upper division classes. This is a lower divison undergraduate class. Not a GRE prep class, nor a graduate, nor a upper division class. Let alone a summer class.
I don't believe it's his job to show us how the real world is, considering we have about another 2 years before it happens. I'll admit it. I've learned alot and coding the C++ has become almost secondary. But, is that the point of this class. Is the focus of our class to learn about various ADT's and their implementations, or is it to learn the real world interactions between programmers and customers.
I do believe this class would be more focused and more benefitial to us all (at this point in out undergraduate schooling) if it were more structered and focused on the classs title.
Although, I guess the real world applications of this class would be more tolerable if we had more professor and TA uniformity.

GO anti-real world

But, on the other hand
