I spoke to the department about the situation today, and apparently it is not entirely his fault. There has really been no standard for this course, nor any consistency with regards to how it has been taught by various people. So, it is probably kind of tough to come in to a new school with nothing to go by. If he had some structure, it would probably be a lot better and less frustrating.
: it's pretty unfortunate that we have to encounter this type of faculty even in being in the 6th ranked CS dep. in the nation.....
