You have to pass up a value which your add and delete functions will return . . . whether the tree grew, shrunk, or remained unchanged. Then, you start coding the gillion special cases for using these variables and setting them accordingly . . . a lot of bookkeeping, no doubt, the hardest part of the assignment.
